Andrew Mwenda Spills It All: Among Targeted Over Power, Not Corruption!

As the walls close in on former Speaker Anita Annet Among over allegations of corruption and illicit enrichment, one of Museveni and Muhoozi’s most vocal defenders, Andrew Mwenda, may have accidentally exposed what this entire operation is really about. While appearing on UBC’s Behind the Headlines on Wednesday night, Mwenda openly suggested that Among’s downfall was triggered not by corruption, but by her growing political influence and rising power within the regime. In his own words, Museveni “felt like she was going to threaten his power over time.” And just like that, the mask slipped. For months, many Ugandans have argued that this dramatic crackdown had very little to do with fighting corruption and everything to do with eliminating perceived threats to Museveni’s control and securing Muhoozi’s transition path to power.
