Guy Lombardo and His Royal Canadians - The Band Played On (1941)
Charted at #6 in Billboard in May 1941. Solo vocal by Kenny Gardner. In 1941, the song was featured in the James Cagney movie, "The Strawberry Blonde", hence the revival (and the photos I used which are publicity stills for the picture). Also #20 for the Jesters in June 1941. With some modifcations for the rock and roll era, it charted at #24 in the UK for Frank D'Rone in December 1960. Recorded February 26, 1941. Written in 1895 by John F. Palmer and Charles B. Ward. B-side is "You Stepped Out of a Dream".
