Maximon, Guatemala's drinking, smoking deity, is revered in Mayan culture as a figure of ancient knowledge. Located in Santiago on the coast of Lake Atitlan, Guatemala, this ancient figure serves the community and helps those in need. Once a year, Maximon moves to a new house in a secretive ceremony. This year, we captured Maximon's journey all on camera. We interviewed several people in Santiago's Mayan community to find out more about Maximon's unique story.
