My fishing vacation couldn't have started any better. I headed to a massive mountain reservoir in southern Poland. Mid-May, rainy weather, fog, and absolute silence by the water – perfect conditions to test my tactics. I opted for a distance method feeder at 80 meters, but with a very carp-oriented, traditional approach to baiting. I completely abandoned expensive, store-bought groundbaits. Using a spomb, I fed six rockets of grains to start: barley, wheat, and corn with a small amount of pellets. Although I spent the first two hours without contact with a fish, my patience paid off. First, beautiful bream arrived (including one exactly 60 cm long!), followed closely by what I'd been waiting for most – my first, coveted ide of the season (46 cm, 48 cm, and a beautiful 51 cm log!).
