Career of a successful Japanese-English Interpreter
In this episode of the Japan Business Show I am talking with Aya Omura. Aya is a Japanese/English interpreter for a major Japanese automotive company. She has work at US manufacturing facilities helping to bridge the cultural and language barrier between Japanese engineers and the local staff. Her motivation to become an interpreter was to use her language skills and deep understanding of Japanese and US culture. As many others, Aya had a challenging time due to COVID, but managed to overcome that and get back to work where wearing a mask and face shield as new health & safety standards made her job even more challenging. Besides her challenges interpreting between cultures we talk about what has allowed her to be successful at what she does, the impact of COVID, and her advice for businesses wanting to work with the Japanese companies.
