TRIBUN-VIDEO.COM - A man identified as ME is facing legal proceedings at the Kubu Raya Police Station, West Kalimantan, after allegedly committing serious assault by throwing acid on two victims. The incident occurred at a company dormitory in the Sungai Ambawang area on Tuesday (May 16, 2026). According to police, the victim is suspected of raping the suspect's wife on the company premises in the Sungai Ambawang area. The case came to light after police received a report and conducted an investigation based on the victims' statements. At the time of the incident, the victim, identified as YS, and his wife were at the company dormitory. Suddenly, the perpetrator allegedly threw acid at them, causing serious injuries. As a result of the attack, YS suffered burns to his face and body. Meanwhile, the victim's wife also suffered injuries to her face and right arm from the dangerous liquid. Based on preliminary investigation results, police suspect the perpetrator's actions were triggered by deep resentment toward the victim. The perpetrator is suspected of harboring a grudge because he believed the victim had raped his wife. This grudge then prompted the suspect to plan revenge by using acid. Police revealed that prior to the incident, the perpetrator had prepared the liquid to use on the victim. However, during the act, some of the acid he was carrying spilled and hit his own hand. As a result of the incident, ME suffered serious burns and required medical treatment. Investigators have now named ME a suspect and detained him for further legal proceedings. In addition to handling the serious assault case, police have also received another report related to the same case. The wife of the acid-spraying suspect, identified as ME, filed a complaint against one of the victims for alleged rape. The Kubu Raya Police have received the report and are currently investigating it. The investigative team is currently handling two related cases. The first case involves the acid-spraying case that caused the victim to suffer serious burns. Meanwhile, the second case concerns an alleged rape reported by the wife of the suspect in the acid attack. This information was conveyed directly by the Head of the Public Relations Sub-Division of the Kubu Raya Police, First Inspector Ade, on Thursday (June 11). Police are still gathering information from the parties and several witnesses to establish the facts in both cases.
