Fixing The MLS Cup Playoff Format

There is nothing better than the MLS Cup Playoffs..... except for when the MLS Cup Playoffs actually has a halfway decent format. A lot of people, myself included, weren't thrilled with how the playoffs were set up this year. Luckily for us, this format won't last long. Because none of the playoff formats last long. They always change after a few years. So what is the best possible format for the MLS Cup Playoffs? Well it wouldn't be easy, but it's possible. Let's look at 2024, Fifa international break starts November 11th, so let's shoot for November 9th MLS Cup, let's have the playoffs start Friday, October 11th. First round, friday saturday sunday. Game two, quick turnaround, just 4 days later, Tuesday Wednesday, Thursday. Knockout round, don't know what we call it, let's say round 3, or round of 12 i don't know, another quick turn around, Sunday October 20th, would host all 4 games. That's a lot, I get that, but it's really the only way possible. Then... quarterfinals on, pretty easy, it's just weekends. the 26th and 27th is the quarters. November 2nd is the semis. MLS Cup November 9th. International break November 11th.
