I've Never Seen A Business Like This

Give someone the finished metal part. Give them the mold too. They still might not make it reliably. What's missing is the recipe for the material going in, and the knowledge of how it will shrink in the furnace. Get either slightly wrong, and the finished part becomes scrap. That's the business Ishmohit and Yash break down in this episode: Indo-MIM, a company that makes tiny, complex metal components for cars, aircraft, medical devices and electronics. Industry data cited in its filings ranks it as the largest metal injection molding business by revenue. The process sounds almost contradictory. Mix metal powder with a binder, inject it like plastic, then debind and sinter it into finished metal. That's how you get components smaller than a fingernail, by the million, without machining most of the original material away. But the episode doesn't start with Indo-MIM. It starts with a more useful question: what makes engineering "precision" engineering? A transformer is an engineered product. The small bushing inside it is precision engineering.
