Jury acquits Vanessa Colemand of first-degree murd
A Davidson County jury acquitted Vanessa Coleman of first-degree murder Thursday afternoon, finding her instead guilty of facilitation in a variety of crimes against Channon Christian. Death penalty and life in prison is no longer a sentencing option for Coleman, and Judge Richard Baumgartner will determine her sentence in July. The families of Channon Christian and Chris Newsom were extremely upset with the verdict. The family of Vanessa Coleman did not like verdict, but was relieved that the death penalty was off the table.
