#võro #concert #aiguom On July 11, the Aigu Om! Barn Concert brought together several generations of the most remarkable Võro songwriters. Their songs glowed with sorrow and joy, carrying the spirit of their land and language, and looking toward the future – the concert was a bow to both the soil and the tongue. A large part of the songs were born and sung in the native tongue – Võro – some for the very first time in front of an audience. On stage came together Võro singers and songwriters: Aapo Ilves, Mari Kalkun, Elo and Jan Rahman, Lauri Sommer, and Kaisa Kuslapuu. Aigu Om! Festival’s second concert was filled with heartfelt and liberating spirit, bringing together the great creative force of Võro songwriters! Singing poets and writing singers, musicians with and without beards, guitarists, zither players, and vocalists in Võro language shared the same stage in one united evening. And the songs revealed it all – what has lived deep in memory, yet also what can be expressed in our present day through our own tongue, the Võro language. In a time when the world is taken over by electronics and AI, Võro songs still carry the simple and pure power of creation, where the truest stage is one person and their instrument. All the musicians are connected by one root and origin – Võromaa. And they have something important to say to Viitina, to Võromaa, to Estonia, and to the world. Much of the music heard that night was born in the ancient native tongue – Võro – and alongside it you could also hear songs and hits that have touched souls and become beloved to many. ✨ Come and be part of it!
