A comparative analysis of military models conducted by Colonel Nidal Abu Zeid showed that this linguistic difference signifies a move towards a "successive wave" tactic, beginning with a wave of bombing, followed by reconnaissance operations to assess the damage, and then renewed bombing based on the results.
