SGGP | On the afternoon of January 2, Lieutenant General To n Xo, Spokesperson of the Ministry of Public Security, said that the Department of Investigation Police on Crimes of Corruption, Economic Crimes, and Smuggling of the Ministry of Public Security is investigating the case of "Giving Bribes", "Receiving Bribes" and "Abusing Position and Power While Performing Official Duty", which occurred in Lam Dong Province and some related localities. Lieutenant General To n Xo said that so far, it has been determined that Mr. Tran Van Hiep, Chairman of the People's Committee of Lam Dong Province, has accepted bribes related to the Dai Ninh Urban Commercial, Tourism, and Ecological Resort Project in Lam Dong Province. Mr. Tran Van Hiep's actions violate the crime of "Receiving Bribes", stipulated in Clause 4, Article 354 of the 2015 Penal Code (amended and supplemented in 2017). On the same afternoon, the Department of Investigation Police on Corruption, Economic Crimes, and Smuggling of the Ministry of Public Security issued a decision to prosecute the accused, an arrest warrant for temporary detention, and a search warrant for Mr. Tran Van Hiep on the above charges. In related developments, on the afternoon of January 2, many people in plainclothes and police uniforms appeared at the private home of Chairman of Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee Tran Van Hiep. At the house on Yersin Street, Ward 9, Da Lat City, Lam Dong Province, after the authorities entered, the high gate was immediately closed.
