Fixing a Worn Out Trencher Chain - Ditch Witch R65 Repair

-This old Ditch Witch R65 trencher has been sitting for a while, and before I can put field tile in the wet spots around the farm, I need to get the trencher chain fixed. The chain is so worn out that it will not stay tight and keeps trying to come off the machine while digging. Instead of buying a new chain right away, I decided to shorten the old chain by removing a worn section to buy a little more time. In this video, I: Get the old trencher started after sitting Deal with stale fuel and maintenance issues Pull the machine out of a very tight shed Inspect the worn trencher chain and rollers Use heat, torches, hammers, and grinders to remove seized pins Shorten the chain and adjust the tensioner Fight old equipment problems every step of the way Get the Ditch Witch ready to install field tile before planting season This project is all part of trying to improve drainage in my Iowa corn fields. Wet spots have been causing problems, and I’m hoping putting tile in the ground will help dry things out and improve crop conditions.
