My Chinchilla's First Playtime!

Hi everyone!! (scroll for cage/accessory products link 👇) Finally posting Finn's very first playtime with me, it went so well! He's adjusted beautifully in the last few weeks, I'm thrilled that it's been going as good as it has. He and Knox has started bonding, which is also going extremely well - better than I could have ever hoped. Here are a few key points in this video for socializing with a new, unfamiliar, or uncomfortable chin: 1. Offer treats and toys by hand, but don't chase! 2. Give them a place to feel safe and hide; they're prey animals, this is a natural and normal behavior and shouldn't be seen as a negative! 3. Let them climb on you without touching them right away; you want to let them know your body is a good jungle gym alternative without the threat of your hands and arms grabbing. 4. Have lots of toys, treats (small pieces), and dust out for them to enjoy and be distracted by. 5. Absolutely talk to them! Softly at first, then full volume so they get used to it. 6. Do short sessions, 5-10 mins at first, then longer each time. I'd say no longer than 25-30 mins a session as chins overheat easily :) 7. If you're having trouble picking up your chin and getting them to and from their cage for these playtimes, use the dust house as a transporter; usually they hop right in!
