These days, many Christians imitate the world. They believe they have a solid reason for doing so based on God's Word. They say, “How can we be separated?” But if we want our heavenly inheritance, we must separate ourselves from such things. For we are God’s own people, God’s chosen race (1 Peter 2:9). We are a set-apart people, and we cannot take this lightly. We live in this world, but we are not of it. We are a chosen people, and we must live a life of separation. We must not defile ourselves with worldly habits or customs, worldly traditions, dress, hair-dos, and many other worldly things. “Do not love the world, nor the things in the world: if anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him” (1 John 2:15). Because of these lustful, wicked, and unholy desires, people adopt worldly fashions. There is no need to fool ourselves by saying that these are fashions. This is not fashion; it is lust and evil, and our lust for worldly clothing, gestures, and customs is responsible for our impurity. Such things defile hearts and fill them with wickedness. Secular music, worldly books, magazines, habits, and half-naked clothing are shamefully lustful. If we follow the world, we cannot hope to be worthy of God's kingdom. We will be deceived by worldly people, but thank God, He has given us grace by which we can keep ourselves pure. By staying away from the world, we can keep our clothes spotless, otherwise our hearts will also become impure. If we follow the world, we cannot preach the Word freely, bear witness boldly, and focus on God's Word. The Lord gives us true beauty. We do not need soap, powder, cream, gold, or silver for beauty. True beauty will be found only when we submit to God. God gives us heavenly glory and heavenly beauty. He himself is our beauty (Isa. 61:10).
