An Introduction to the Darqawi-Karkari-Shadhili Method It is an educational and behavioral method that relies on spiritual training in accordance with the Quran and Sunnah. It is a divinely inspired method, its school of thought is Maliki, its support is Prophetic Muhammadan, its chain of transmission is Darqawi-Karkari-Shadhili, and its sheikh is the knower of God who guides to Him through Him, my master Sidi Abd al-Aziz, may God be pleased with him. He is the standard-bearer of the path, the one who combines Sharia and Haqiqah, the exemplar of those who tread the path, and the imam of those who attain. How could it be otherwise, when he is truly the inheritor of the secret of his ancestors, and the possessor of the greatest name in this era? This has been testified to by both the elite and the general public among the most eminent people of sainthood and gnosis. The Sufi path seeks to spread and revive true Sunni Sufism—as opposed to superstitious Sufism—and to establish love and companionship for the sake of God Almighty. This is achieved by urging adherence to the path's etiquette, engaging in remembrance and reflection, and rectifying the self and its shortcomings, so that the seeker may ascend the stages of servitude to God Almighty and reach the Divine Presence. All of this is only possible through... Under the supervision and guidance of the Sheikh of the Tariqa, Mawlay Sidi Abdelaziz, may God benefit us through him. The Darqawi-Karkari-Shadhili Zawiya was established in the eleventh century AH and became renowned through the efforts of Sidi Muhammad ibn Abd al-Qadir al-Wakili al-Karkari, may God sanctify his secret. It continued after him through his sons and grandsons, up to our current Sheikh, Mawlay Sidi Abdelaziz, may God be pleased with him and his noble ancestors. And it continues to play a fundamental role to this day in preserving the heritage of the Sufi predecessors from any taint of deviation or straying from the straight path and the right way. The method has become widespread within the Kingdom of Morocco and beyond, in countries such as France, Belgium, Spain, the Netherlands, and others. The zawiya, represented by its current sheikh, Sidi Moulay Abdelaziz, may God be pleased with him, remains open to grant the litany to all who wish to join this Darqawi-Karkari-Shadhili method, which is Muhammadi in origin and grace.
