Are Ethiopia and Eritrea going to war?
Are Ethiopia and Eritrea on the brink of war? The Ethiopian Foreign Minister a couple of days ago sent a menacing letter to his Eritrean counterpart saying that Eritrea must withdraw its troops from the Ethiopian territories it is occupying and that it must stop aiding and abetting rebel groups operating inside Ethiopia. The letter doesn’t specify which territories or which rebel groups but presumably it is in reference to the Tigrayan territories Eritrea has been occupying since 2020, and the Fano militia. Eritrea has today dismissed Ethiopia’s allegations, saying that they are a part of an exercise in creating a justification to invade Eritrea. Is Eritrea right? Is Ethiopia planning to invade Eritrea?
