I Played Fallout 4 for 200 Hours in 2026... Is It Actually Worth It?

Is Fallout 4 still worth playing in 2026? After finally playing Fallout 4 for the first time 11 years later — and somehow dumping around 200 hours into one playthrough — it is time for a full patient gamer review. In this Fallout 4 review, I break down the good, the bad, and the aggressively Bethesda-flavored jank of the Commonwealth. From settlement building, crafting, exploration, factions, companions, combat, DLC, mods, bugs, performance problems, and the main story, this is a deep dive into whether Fallout 4 still holds up for patient gamers today. Fallout 4 has been heavily criticized by longtime Fallout fans for streamlining RPG mechanics, reducing meaningful dialogue choices, weakening roleplay systems, and moving away from the deeper RPG design of Fallout 3 and Fallout: New Vegas. And honestly? A lot of those criticisms are valid. But despite all of that, Fallout 4 still managed to grab me. The Commonwealth is packed with places to explore, enemies to fight, settlements to build, gear to craft, factions to join, and enough weird Bethesda chaos to keep the game entertaining long after the main story starts falling apart. In this video, I talk about: Whether Fallout 4 is worth playing in 2026 How Fallout 4 compares to older Fallout games The strengths and weaknesses of settlement building Why the Commonwealth is still fun to explore Fallout 4’s factions, companions, and main story Far Harbor, Automatron, and the DLC experience Combat, crafting, legendary weapons, and perk progression Bugs, performance issues, poor optimization, and Bethesda jank Why I still enjoyed Fallout 4 despite its many flaws If you are a patient gamer wondering whether Fallout 4 is still worth your time, this review should help you decide whether to finally give Bethesda’s post-apocalyptic Boston RPG a shot. War never changes… but apparently my settlement build limit does once I start using console commands. 🔍 In This Video: 0:00 Intro: Finally Played Fallout 4! 2:49 So It Begins... 3:55 Settlements and Building 6:40 Worldbuilding and Exploration Abound! 8:08 Main Questline and Factions 9:47 Enemy Variety 10:25 Crafting System 11:10 Perks 12:59 Level Design 14:01 Combat 15:17 DLCs 16:28 Criticisms 27:31 Let's Wrap It Up 💬 What's YOUR take on Fallout 4?
