As a child, He grew up learning #hindustani #classical #music from Ut Udo Khan of Talwandi Gharana. The Talwandi tradition is associated with north-western India, specifically, Punjab. Presently, the tradition has very few singers, mostly living in Pakistan. In India, their bandishes have been saved and safeguarded by the Namdharis under Satguru Jagjit Singh Ji.
