Regional Rail Link: West Werribee Junction to Southern Cross Station

This video takes you on a sped up journey along the full Regional Rail Link alignment. Regional Rail Link is a landmark infrastructure project designed to remove major bottlenecks in Victoria's rail network. It does this by untangling metropolitan and regional tracks as they travel through Melbourne's west into the heart of the city. It starts at West Werribee Junction where the Geelong line now meets the new tracks through the growing suburbs. Along this entirely new rail line two new stations have been built and opened at Wyndham Vale and Tarneit. Thirteen grade separations have also been built. The new line meets the Ballarat line in Deer Park. From Sunshine new dedicated regional tracks continue into the city. Sunshine station and West Footscray station have been rebuilt. Tottenham station has had improvements to the entrance and forecourt. Footscray station has had a major upgrade with two new platforms. Four road bridges in Footscray have also been rebuilt. The dedicated tracks flyover the Werribee line and cross a new bridge over the Maribyrnong River before continuing into Melbourne. The tracks take regional trains either across the North Melbourne flyover or straight ahead into the new platforms 15 & 16 at Southern Cross Station.
