This week we have a full tutorial for you - a shorter one that can fit into a single release. Terry took a lot of inspiration from his local area and one day on a walk he came across this old tractor languishing in a field. He had to paint it and thats where this composition came from. The paper size for all of the projects is ¼ imperial, 11ins x 15ins PAINTS Terry always said to use the best quality paint you can afford as its well worth paying the extra for Artists’ quality. That being said, work with whatever you have and see how you get on. For this tutorial Terry used Daler Rowney 15ml tube paints, however soon after he developed a Terry Harrison range of paints available via the website which includes most of the shades below. Terry Harrison Shades: Ultramarine Turquoise Cadmium Red Wild Rose Bluebell Shadow Midnight Green Sunlit Green Country Olive Yellow Gold Sunlit Gold Autumn Gold Daler Rowner Shades - available on the website or follow the instructions to mix with legacy colours! Raw Sienna - Mix 50% Sunlit Gold and 50% Autumn Gold then add a tiny drop of Shadow to darken and make Raw Sienna - you can view this here:    • Mixing RAW SIENNA with Terry Harrison Wate...   Burnt Sienna - Mix 95% Autumn Gold and 5% Ultramarine - you can view how here:    • Mixing BURNT SIENNA using Terry Harrison C...   Burnt Umber - Mix 50% Autumn Gold and 50% Ultramarine - you can view how here:    • Mixing BURNT UMBER with Terry Harrison Wat...   Cadmium Yellow - Use Sunlit Gold TERRY’S PALETTE Terry’s palette was designed by him and has a clip on lid that helps keep the paint from drying out and 3 separate mixing areas to keep the colours fresh. MASKING FLUID This is used to mask off detail you want to retain white. You will need an old brush to apply the masking fluid. PENCIL A 2B pencil is the best for sketching and drawing. CREDIT CARD Use a plastic card to create the texture when painting rocks and cliffs. MASKING TAPE Terry uses masking tape to fix the paper to his drawing board. BRUSHES Terry designed his own range of brushes, made to make painting easy. These brushes are used throughout the tutorials.
