Édouard Louis - Raconter la violence | 4/4
What would literature look like if it truly confronted the world and its violence? After more than ten years of writing and reading every day, Édouard Louis has formed a conviction: aside from the rare exceptions of those who have risen above their social class, literature remains largely produced and read by the most privileged, disconnected from the lives of the most disadvantaged. For him, it is time to renew this age-old art and overturn its obsolete conventions. How can we write without reproducing the old masculine and bourgeois codes that still dominate literature? How can we make literature a tool for social and political transformation? Can it, too, become a space for revolt? In the fourth and final part of this in-depth interview, Naomi Titti continues her conversation with the writer Édouard Louis about his new essay, What to Do with Literature? (https://editions.flammarion.com/que-f...) (Flammarion, 2025). By blending political reflections with a reinterpretation of the classics, it offers a journey through literary history, highlighting all its blind spots to make way for new narratives, drawing inspiration from cinema, music, and popular uprisings. A true manifesto for revolutionary literature. REFERENCES CITED IN THE EPISODE Find all the references cited in the episode on the following page: https://www.binge.audio/podcast/les-c...
