In this new video, we'll see how to animate a character in After Effects in 3 steps. The first step to animating a character in After Effects is to create it. Ideally, this should be done in Illustrator, as it's the standard software for 2D illustration. Once created, your character should have joints with rounded ends, as I demonstrate in the tutorial. Next, you'll need to import your character into After Effects and use the fantastic Duik Angela plugin. It will allow you to animate characters easily! Once the Duik Angela skeleton is correctly positioned relative to each limb of your character and they are properly parented, you can create a walk cycle in After Effects. With just one click, you can create a walk cycle using Duik Angela, which is incredible! I can tell you that 10 years ago, this wasn't possible, and we had to create the walk cycle manually!
