🍄🦠Mold can cause a type of pulmonary fibrosis called hypersensitivity pneumonitis (HP). HP can occur when the body's immune system reacts to inhaled particles, or antigens, in the air, resulting in inflammation and scarring the lungs. Numerous airborne antigens can cause hypersensitivity pneumonitis, including mold. HP caused by mold exposure is called mold-related hypersensitivity pneumonitis.
