From Farrier Rasp to finished Knife

*Making 3 Identical Knives from Farrier Rasps – Stock Removal + Forge Heat Treat* In this video I turn three old farrier rasps into identical knives using **mostly stock removal**. No forging or shaping the steel with a hammer — just grinding and filing the blades from the raw rasps. I did use the forge to properly heat treat and temper them for better performance. Farrier rasps are made of tough high-carbon steel, and with the right heat treatment they make excellent, long-lasting blades. Watch as I build three matching knives from start to finish, showing the complete process: Layout and design of the knife Stock removal grinding (profile, bevels, and tang) Forge heat treating and tempering Handle making (simple and strong) Finishing, sharpening, and edge testing You’ll see the full journey of turning worn-out farrier tools into three functional, good-looking knives with that classic rasp-tooth pattern still visible on the spines. *Perfect project for anyone wanting to make knives without a lot of blacksmithing equipment.* Great for beginners or anyone who loves recycling old tools into usable blades. *Tools & Materials:* Farrier rasps Forge (for heat treat only) belt grinder/files Sandpaper, epoxy, handle material of your choice If you like budget knife making, tool steel repurposing, and practical shop projects, this build is for you! 👍 Like the video and subscribe for more knife making, tool restoration, and DIY projects.
