Marathon des Sciences - Science ou pseudoscience : comment savoir ? - Olivier SARTENAER

Science Marathon - Knowledge(s) - 11/12 Chapter IV: Social Sciences Science or Pseudoscience: How Can We Know? In the context of societal issues with a scientific content, minimizing the harmful impact of misinformation can only be achieved through the essential prerequisite that everyone is able to distinguish reliable scientific information from pseudoscientific claims. Philosophy of science has long since taken on the task of identifying levers for making such a distinction. It is now up to us to seize them. Olivier Sartenaer A physicist by training, Olivier Sartenaer also studied the philosophy of science at the Catholic University of Louvain, where he completed his doctorate in 2013. After conducting research at various universities around the world (Cambridge, Paris 1, Columbia, Cologne, etc.), he recently joined the "Sciences, Philosophies, and Societies" department at the University of Namur (Belgium) to teach logic, epistemology, history, and philosophy of science. His research focuses primarily on the concepts of emergence and reductionism, as well as the role of scientific discourse in society. --- Also follow us on: Instagram:   / festival_fleurance   Facebook:   / festivaldastronomiedefleurance   Twitter:   / astrofleurance   --- #FAsF22 #FestivalAstronomie #Fleurance ---
