Sakarya Meydan Savaşı izlerinin peşinde (Çalış Köyü) (13.04.2020)

A search was conducted for any remaining cemeteries, traces of positions, and other objects from the battlefield, located between the villages (neighborhoods) of Çalış, Güzelcekale, and Sığırcık Farm in Haymana. Efforts were made to locate the possible locations of photographs published as Kale Grotto in Greek archives, but no results were obtained. A similar approach will be implemented around Gavurkalesi Hill and Uludağ Hill, west of Tutak (Durupınar) Village. Due to the ancient nature of the area, historical artifacts were also recorded. This is presented as a summary of the very lengthy and detailed records. This is an amateur effort. A flagpole has just been erected on Çalışkalesi Hill. I extend my gratitude to the village of Çalış. Ancient sites must be urgently rescued from treasure hunters' plunder. I offer my deepest gratitude to the eternal commander-in-chief, Ghazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, and to our martyrs and deceased veterans who sacrificed their lives during the Battle of Sakarya. I pray for God's mercy upon them. The Greek occupying army held the line between Tutak (Durupınar) and Sığırcık Farm (this line is shown in the video) for approximately 10 days, from August 29 to September 10, 1921. The corps commanded by Prince Andrew, brother of Greek King Constantine, fought in this region. On September 13, 1921, the Greek Army was pushed west of the Sakarya River.
