A DA Polisher or Dual Action Polisher is a polishing tool that both oscillates and rotates at the same time. Here we’ll be working with our MT300 Dual Action Polisher that has an 8mm stroke. No matter which DA machine or stroke, the same DA polishing techniques apply. In the most basic sense, when working with a DA polisher, we are cutting using a cutting pad, polishing using a polishing pad, and waxing using a finishing pad. There are several variables to consider when working with a DA polisher, including pad selection, product selection, the severity of the paint defects, and how good the paint needs to be when done. Basic suggestion: -Safety equipment including gloves, eye protection, mask, ear protection. -Keep the cord over your shoulder at all times. -Makes sure you get the pad centered on the backing plate. -Prime the pad and clean it frequently with a brush or compressed air. 5 User variables that you have control over: -Tool speed -Arm speed -Pressure -Pad angle -Size of work area Other tips & suggestions: -Quality lighting helps you so you can quickly and easily identify the paint defects that are present. Using a paint inspection light, like our MT103 Sunlight 3+ can help to see different paint defects from different angles. -For tighter areas, we do offer 3” pads to use with a DA polisher. -When working with concave body lines, approach from top and bottom to meet in the middle, so you reach all paint. -When working with convex body lines, keep the centerline of the pad in contact with the paint roll pad with contour.
