tooling plate Part1
Part 1. Machining steel to create a work holding solution for a 4" x 12" piece of aluminum. In the first of this Video, I use my Harbor Freight X2 mill that I converted to CNC. It has Ball screws on all axis, limit switches, digital tach and I am using Mach 3 to run it. All G-code was written by hand. The steel is then finished on my Sherline mill running on Linux CNC. I discovered that I can use my Mach 3 remote to operate my Sherline running Linux. Not all buttons work with Linux yet, but I can move all axis and the stop button works, I have not tried all the buttons. In part 2, which is mostly filmed at this time, I will drill and thread mill holes for the fixture plate, as well as drill and ream locating holes for 1/4" pins to locate fixtures.
