AP Chemistry 7.1: The Equilibrium Constant

What is Chemical Equilibrium, and What is an Equilibrium Constant? In this video, we begin our journey into the magical land of Chemical Equilibrium; what it is, why it happens, and how do we, as chemists, deal with it? Many chemical reactions are reversible, and Chemical Equilibrium occurs when the rate of the forward reaction is equal to the rate of the reverse reaction. Collisions ensue, in both directions, and a kind of chemical balance happens. Collisions continue, but the overall concentrations of products and reactions stays constant. We can represent an equilibrium system using an equilibrium constant expression, and we can quantify the equilibrium system using the equilibrium constant.
