Les années noires : la France sous l'Occupation, avec Henry Rousso
Make a donation and receive a gift: http://don.storiavoce.com/ June 1940 marked a decisive turning point in French political history. The defeat, followed by the establishment of the Vichy regime, ushered in a period characterized by diminished sovereignty, the German presence, and the authoritarian restructuring of the state. This context saw the rise of collaboration, exclusionary policies, the first forms of resistance, and, more broadly, the diverse ways in which French society confronted the war and the occupation. In this synthesis, Henry Rousso revisits the main questions raised by this period, from the responsibilities for the defeat to the nature of the Vichy regime, from the persecution of Jews to the various forms of resistance, and finally to the conditions of France's return to the victorious ranks in 1945. He also sheds light on the enduring legacies of the Occupation, whose echoes continue to resonate in French society to this day. Our guest: Henry Rousso is a historian and emeritus research director at the CNRS (French National Centre for Scientific Research). A specialist in the Second World War, the Occupation, and the Vichy regime, he is the author of *France Under the Occupation*, published by Éditions du Cerf in the "La Bibliothèque à remonter le temps" (The Library to Go Back in Time) series (128 pages, €14).
