Ferrata Sartor al Monte Peralba – Dal sentiero dei fortini alla cima tra vento e panorami
We set out from Val Sesis to climb one of the most fascinating mountains in the Carnic Alps: Monte Peralba (2,694 m). Sofia and I choose the fort trail, passing trenches and remnants of the Great War, while Simonetta ascends more quickly along the road and the marmot trail, arriving first at the Calvi Refuge. While she waits for us, I take the opportunity to explore the forts, shoot some footage, and climb the small peak just above the refuge. From there, we set off together towards Passo Sesis, detouring towards the start of the Sartor Ferrata. Climbing order: Simonetta in front, Sofia in the middle, and me bringing up the rear. After completing the equipped section, we grab our first sandwich and head towards the summit of Monte Peralba... but the clouds, blown by the wind, arrive right with us! The drone stays in my backpack, but there's no shortage of views, excitement, and a second sandwich at the summit. For the return journey, we choose the Giovanni Paolo II Trail, which takes us back to the Calvi Refuge for a well-deserved third half, and finally to the parking lot in about 50 minutes along the service road.
