Camino de Santiago, Days 10-15 (Pt.4) Grañon | Belorado | Burgos | Fromista

On our 10th day we left Santo Domingo de la Calzada refreshed and ready for another Camino Day. We took a little break in Grañon, walked through Viloria de Rioja and entered the region of Castilla y Leon. We kept walking and passed through Redecilla del Camino and had some delish Colombian empanadas in Fresneña. Our stop for the evening was Hotel Jacobeo in Belorado. We loved this town with the “Paseo del Animo” plaques on the road, showcasing hand and foot prints of famous people that encourage peregrines along the way. In the evening we had the most delicious meal at “La Huella del Camino” Restaurant. But the next day we had a bit of a crisis. Steve took two Dramamines instead of his intended meds (wife gave him the wrong pills) and we decided to take a bus to Burgos. We had a nice little apartment there and enjoyed spending an extra day to rest and explore the city. We really enjoyed the day off. On day 13 we headed towards Castrojeriz. Leaving Burgos we passed through Rabe de las Calzadas, and had the lovely surprise of meeting Sor Teresa, a lovely nun from the Centro La Milagrosa, who called us in, held our hands, gave us blessings, and small medals. She really touched our hearts and lifted our spirits. One of the best experiences of the camino! We floated all the way to Hornillos del Camino where we had planned to take a taxi to Castrojeriz since there were no accommodations. Our driver was great! The best we ever had! We enjoyed our hotel for the night, delicious dinner in town and the next day we continued our journey. The landscape on day 14 was beautiful, we met Tracy as we entered the Meseta and passed by the Ermita de San Nicolas, crossed the medieval Fitero bridge, walked through Itero de la Vega, and along the Castilla canal to finally arrive in Fromista. Leaving the next morning, the path was along a busy road, then we reached Población de Campos, Revenga de Campos, Villarmentero de Campos, and reached Villalcázar de Sirga, our last break before our stop for the day at Carrion de los Condes. This was such a lovely town. We met again with a couple of peregrinas from Canada and had a nice meal in town and a restful evening at Casa Tia Paula. Hard to believe we have been 2 weeks on the Camino and we have loved it all. Even, the not so great experiences give you lessons to take with you. Thank you for watching. Hope you continue joining us as we find our way through the Camino de Santiago. #timetolinger, #slowtravel, #TatandSteve, #CaminodeSantiago, #CaminoFrances, #burgos Chapters 0:00 Santo Domingo del la Calzada to Belorado 4:19 Belorado to Burgos 6:56 Burgos Day to explore & rest 9:23 Burgos to Castrojeriz 13:07 Castrojeriz to Fromista 18:18 Fromista to Carrion de los Condes 25:24 Outro
