Frank Ivallo/Colman - Natural Soprano Aged 33. Not Falsetto or Contra
Frank Ivallo was born in 1902 and retained his natural soprano voice throughout adolescence and to adulthood. Like many such trained before him he is now mis-classed as a "Falesttest" or "Contra Tenor". He made several broadcasts in the 1930s including with Henry Hall. It has been speculated that he had a congenital condition or that his voice did not break, but this has been disproved by doctors' reports that he was entirely normal in that was (if you get my meaning!) and that he spoke in a deep bass voice. Here he sings "Keep a Place in Heaven" His six records were newly discovered by me and issued on CD to be had from [email protected] Ivallo would have been in his early 30's here. This is further evidence that boys who are trained in the natural soprano head tone from an early age may retain it to adulthood.
