May Frost Damage, Sowing Beans and Pumpkins 2026

This week at my allotment plot has been very challenging. I was all ready to start planting out my peppers and tomatoes but the weather had other ideas! The temperature dropped to 0 Degrees Celsius inside the greenhouse with freezing conditions outside, so I decided to postpone planting untill next week when the nights warm up again. Unfortunately, the cold weather also caused frost damage to some of my dahlias and potatoes, adding to already frustrating week on the plot. As if that wasn't enough: Pigeons stripped my gooseberries, caterpillars ate many of the leaves on my plum tree and my nectarine got a bad case of peach leaf curl. Even with all the setbacks, there was still plenty to get done. I planted up the herb garden, strimmed grass at my allotment seating area, sown pumpkin and bean seeds for the 2026 season and added more leeks to the bed. All the greenhouses are now completely full of seedlings waiting to go out, and at home I have got huge sweet potato plants, ginger and melon plants, ready for planting, as soon as the weather improves. Hopefully next week finally brings some warmer nights, so the main planting can begin properly! Thank you for following my journey and supporting my channel.
