Emerging from the no wave scene, they became known for their brutal and abrasive early sound before evolving into more atmospheric post-rock territory in the 90s. After releasing the masterpiece "Soundtracks for the Blind" in 1996, they disbanded the year after, only for them to reform in 2010 and embark on a new era of intense, massive compositions and critically very acclaimed albums like The Seer, To Be Kind, and their latest release Birthing. Swans are renowned for their overwhelming live performances and have left a huge lasting mark on underground and experimental music.
