Describe a Childhood Memory [IELTS Speaking]
In part 2 of the IELTS speaking test, you could be asked to describe a childhood memory. It may seem like you are being asked to talk about childhood and so you might think of vocabulary like "toddler," "pre-teen," "adolescent," and so on. However, it is not childhood in general that you must discuss, but rather one specific memory. In this video, I am going to show you how to approach this sort of cue card by picking appropriate language. That means choosing vocabulary that is specific to your memory and also grammar that adequately locates the event in time. I will explain how you can develop your answer, guiding your listener from a logical beginning to a logical ending. I will also provide my own sample band 9 answer to help you understand how this can be done successfully.
