Houston Texans: Did Shannon Sharpe Go Too Far on C.J. Stroud?

Houston Texans quarterback C.J. Stroud has taken plenty of criticism after a frustrating offensive season, but Shannon Sharpe’s framing on Nightcap went too far. Shannon said C.J. “blamed” the Texans defense for the offense’s struggles — and that’s just not accurate. Stroud talked about complimentary football and the way games can change when the defense is playing at an elite level, but that is not the same thing as throwing DeMeco Ryans’ defense under the bus. Chad Johnson seemed to think Shannon was being a little excessive, and I’m with Chad on this one. In this video, I react to Shannon and Chad’s comments, explain why the “blamed the defense” angle misses the mark, and talk about the fair criticism of C.J. Stroud versus criticism that goes too far.
