Let's look at the origins, causes, and development of this behavior, called "Red Cross Nurse Syndrome," but also known as "Wendy Syndrome." ❤️‍🩹  It essentially consists of the desire (which tends to develop in females) to care for a partner who is incapable of being fully independent and therefore needs someone to lean on to move forward. The pattern involves a sort of "sacrifice" on her part: she fails to meet her own needs and necessities for the sake of the other, in the illusory fantasy of being seen and recognized. 👩‍⚕️  In part, it can be associated with the concept of codependency (I talked about it here:    • Maria e Paolo: una storia di co-dipendenza  ), and the main risk factor is having assumed, as a child, adult roles burdened with responsibilities that were inappropriate for that moment.
