The History of Lisbon's Famous No. 28 Tram & How to Find It

This week's episode I'm out exploring Lisbon in the rain and trying to work out how to ride the famous number 28 tram. Come with me as I find my way to the stop, join a long queue, eventually board, and talk about why the no. 28 tram is a favourite with tourists. Later I draw something on Procreate at a nice little coffee shop halfway back up the hill and submit once again to my emotional bondage with grilled chicken. Lisbon’s No. 28 tram is famous because it offers one of the most scenic and authentic ways to experience the city’s historic neighborhoods in a single ride. The vintage yellow Lisbon Tram 28 rattles through extremely narrow streets, steep hills, and iconic districts like Alfama and Graça, passing landmarks, viewpoints, and local life up close. Its combination of old-fashioned charm, dramatic routes, and “living postcard” views of Lisbon makes it both a practical transport line and a must-do tourist experience.
