Let’s take a journey through time - past and present - and see how Minneapolis has changed over the years. In this video, we'll compare old photos from the 1800s to the 1970s with new ones of the same spots today. From historic landmarks to familiar streets, you’ll get a cool look at how the city has transformed into what it is now. From the historic Stone Arch Bridge, once a key link for trains, to the bustling Milling District that powered the city’s growth, and the timeless beauty of the Minneapolis Institute of Art, you’ll see how much—and sometimes how little—things have changed. Minneapolis has a rich history rooted in the lives of the Dakota, an indigenous people who first settled around Lake Calhoun and St. Anthony Falls, a place they considered spiritual. In 1803, the U.S. acquired the land through the Louisiana Purchase and built Fort Snelling. As settlers arrived from the East Coast, they used the falls to power flour mills, leading to the founding of Minneapolis.
