The Panasonic Lumix FZ70 (FZ72) is it any use for Wildlife? Video and Stills Tests

The 20mm to 1200mm (22mm - 1350mm in video mode) FZ70 (FZ72) tested in a wildlife situation. Does the f5.9 lens at full zoom mean its going to be too dark for decent wildlife pictures in dull and overcast situations. Certainly I found I could not hand hold the camera and get"sharp" images even with ISO at 400 and the best shutter speed I could get under this sort of light was 1/320-1/400. Tripod mounted the results were sharper, however subject motion blur was still an issue. Video shot at 50i Full HD (1920 x 1080) looked much better and is probably one of the stronger points of the camera. Shamefully unlike the FZ200 Panasonic don't supply a lens hood, nor is there a remote control socket on the camera so all stills have to be triggered by the 2 second timer which means that the critical moment of exposure cannot be predicted. I have not seen one review where this most important feature (IMHO) is pointed out. A camera with a lens this long is going to need remote control to trigger it! Filmed at the Bolton Doffcocker nature reserve featuring the swans and newly hatched cygnets, coots, black headed gulls, arctic terns, mallard ducks, Canadian geese, moorhen and Great Crested Grebe with juveniles.
