These neighborhoods, along with Colonia Del Valle and Colonia Nápoles, concentrate a large number of economic, commercial, and service activities in this part of the city. It is characterized by its wide streets with green areas and avenues with large medians, as well as its well-preserved Art Deco and Early California Colonial style houses and its functionalist-style apartment buildings. In recent years, it has experienced a real estate boom with numerous minimalist-style residential apartment buildings, similar to the neighboring Del Valle neighborhood. Within its boundaries are some notable buildings, such as the Ministry of Communications and Transportation. The area encompassing the neighborhood was once part of the land belonging to the Narvarte Hacienda. It is located in the central part of Mexico City, in the Benito Juárez borough, bordered to the north by the Miguel Alemán Viaduct and the Roma Sur and Buenos Aires neighborhoods (belonging to the Cuauhtémoc borough); To the south, it is bordered by Matías Romero Street (between Avenida Universidad and Doctor José María Vértiz), Eje 6 Sur (Ángel Urraza) (between Doctor José María Vértiz Street and Monte Albán Street), and Bartolomé R. Salido Street (between Monte Albán Street and Eje Central Lázaro Cárdenas), adjoining the Letrán Valle and Independencia neighborhoods; to the east, by Eje Central Lázaro Cárdenas and the Álamos, Postal, Miguel Alemán, Niños Héroes de Chapultepec, and Periodista neighborhoods; and to the west, by Medellín Street (in the section of the Piedad Narvarte neighborhood between Viaducto Miguel Alemán and Avenida Obrero Mundial), Nicolás San Juan Street (between Calzada Obrero Mundial and División del Norte), and Avenida División del Norte (between Nicolás San Juan Street and Avenida Universidad), all of which are adjacent to the Del Valle neighborhood. The internal boundaries of the neighborhoods that make up the Narvarte area are: Piedad Narvarte Neighborhood: Bordered to the north by the Miguel Alemán Viaduct, to the south by Calzada Obrero Mundial, to the east by Monte Albán Street, and to the west by Medellín Street. Atenor Salas Neighborhood: Bordered to the north by the Miguel Alemán Viaduct, to the south by Calzada Obrero Mundial, to the east by Eje Central Lázaro Cárdenas, and to the west by Monte Albán Street. Narvarte Poniente Neighborhood: Bordered to the north by Calzada Obrero Mundial, to the south by Avenida División del Norte and Avenida Universidad, to the east by Xochicalco Street, and to the west by Nicolás San Juan Street. Narvarte Oriente neighborhood: Bordered to the north by Calzada Obrero Mundial, to the south by Eje 5 Sur Eugenia, to the east by Eje Central de Lázaro Cárdenas, and to the west by Calle de Xochicalco and Avenida División del Norte (between Avenida Concepción Beistegui and Eje 5 Sur Eugenia). Colonia Vértiz Narvarte: To the north with Eje 5 Sur Eugenia, to the south with Matías Romero Street (from Avenida Universidad to Doctor José María Vértiz), Ángel Urraza (from Doctor José María Vértiz to Monte Albán) and Bartolomé R. Salido (between Monte Albán and Doctor José María Vértiz), to the east with Doctor José María Vértiz (between Eje 6 Sur Ángel Urraza and Matías Romero Street), Monte Albán Street (between Matías Romero Street, Eje 6 Sur Ángel Urraza and Bartolomé R. Salido Street) and Eje Central Lázaro Cárdenas (between Eje 5 Sur Eugenia and Bartolomé R. Salido) and to the west with Avenida Universidad.
