Rhyl Miniature Railway - August 11 2018

The North Wales Railway Circle visited Rhyl Miniature Railway in Rhyl on August 11 2018, and enjoyed a late afternoon running session around the Marine Lake, with some members being allowed to drive the loco (supervised of course!). The railway is around a mile long and was opened in 1911. It is built to 15 inch (381mm) gauge and still has a number of one third scale 4-4-2 Atlantic locomotives built for the railway by Albert Barnes & Company of Rhyl. The railway was closed in 1969, bur re-opened in 1978, with the new Central station which also houses a small museum, cafe and shop opening in 2007.
