Watch therefore, because you know neither the day nor the hour wherein the Son of man cometh. 14. For he shall do as a man, which, going into a foreign country, called his own servants, and delivered to them his goods: 15. And to one he gave five talents, to another two, and to another one, to every man according to his ability; and straightway he departed. 16. Then he that had received five talents went and traded with them, and made five more talents. 17. In like manner also he that had received two talents made two more. 18. But he that had received one talent went and dug in the earth, and hid his lord's money. 19. According to the debt At that time, the lord of those servants came and settled accounts with them. 20. Then he who had received the five talents came and brought other five talents, saying, “Master, you delivered to me five talents; behold, I have gained five talents with them.” 21. His lord said to him, “Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things. Enter into the joy of your lord.” ... 28. Therefore, take the talent from him and give it to him who has ten talents. 29. For to everyone who has, more will be given, and he will have abundance; but from him who does not have, even what he has will be taken away. 30. But cast the worthless servant into outer darkness: there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.” When Jesus had said these things, he cried out, “Whoever has ears to hear, let him hear” (Matthew 25:13-30). Then the king commanded Ashpenaz, the chief of his eunuchs, to bring from the sons of Israel, of the royal family and the princes, 4. young men without any blemish, comely in appearance, and versed in all learning, and understanding the arts, and prudent, and fit to serve in the king's palace; and that he should teach them the books and the language of the Chaldeans. 5. And the king appointed them daily food from the king's table, and wine of which he himself drank, and commanded that they should be brought up for three years, at the end of which they were to stand before the king. 6. Among them were of the sons of Judah Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah. 7. And the chief of the eunuchs renamed them: Daniel, Belteshazzar; Hananiah, Shadrach; Mishael, Meshach; and Azariah, Abednego. 8. And Daniel purposed in his heart not to defile himself with food from the king's table and the wine which the king drinks, and therefore he asked the chief of the eunuchs that he might not defile himself. ... 20. You also, as living stones, are being built up a spiritual house, a holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ. 6. For it is said in the Scripture, “Behold, I lay in Zion a corner stone, chosen and precious; and he who believes in Him will not be ashamed.” 7. Therefore to you who believe He is precious; but to those who do not believe He is the stone which the builders rejected, which has become the head of the corner, a stone of stumbling and a rock of offense, 8. over which they stumble, not obeying the word, to which they were abandoned. ... 12. And conduct your lives honorably among the Gentiles, so that when they speak against you as evildoers, they may, by your good works which they observe, glorify God in the day of visitation.
