Most advice for learning German is repeated ad nauseam: talk to native speakers, watch series, listen to podcasts. In this video, I'm taking a different approach. I explain how to leverage the structure of German itself to learn faster and better remember what you study. We'll talk about chunks, collocations, verb valency, cognitive associations, and contrastive linguistics between Spanish and German. You'll see why simply memorizing "freuen" is much less useful than learning "sich freuen auf," why "helfen" and "warten" generate so many errors among Spanish speakers, how to store vocabulary so you can easily retrieve it later, and why nouns work better when accompanied by gender, plural, and context.
