"string theocracy" (Demon) by IIIGamBiTIII | Geometry Dash 2.2

I haven't seen any of IIIGamBiTIII's work before now, so this was very interesting to check out, since I didn't know what to expect at all. It's made for a song that isn't on Newgrounds, and it's themed around the lyrics of the song, but it seems like everything is original beyond that. With levels like this, you will sometimes find that it's largely based on a music video, which isn't the case here. I think the creator handled the visuals really well. The marionettes, curtains, music notes, and other art all fit the song, and are also often animated to make the level dynamic. Most of the lyrics are used as visuals too, and I think they're incorporated nicely without being a distraction. The varying colors and enter/exit effects used for them look good. This level is a bit on the longer side, being about two and half minutes long. Some of it is relatively slow and easy to sightread, but the climaxes at 0:39 and 1:44 are a bit disorienting at first due to the heavy camera control usage. As a result, you need to memorize some of these sections, and in addition to the length, the level will most likely be Medium Demon. It's a fine experience to play through once you have got it down, though, as both the visuals and the gameplay work in harmony with the song. One problem for its rating potential is that the Newgrounds replacement doesn't synchronize at all, which is what RobTop uses when rating, so I'm not sure how that will go.
