The qualifiers for South Africa 2010 were where the national team hit rock bottom. We were the worst in South America, with three points guaranteed for each team. The 2011 Copa América was just around the corner, and nobody in the country had an ounce of faith that the team would have a good run. Many were even calculating how many thrashings we would suffer or if we would even manage to get one point.
