Basic Skim Coating Using Quick Set Joint Compound- Matthews’ Painting Company near Warsaw, Indiana

Using 45 minute quick set joint compound from Sheetrock, I show some basic principles on how to skim coat 1st coat over a smooth wall and over a textured wall/ceiling and how to 2nd coat over a textured wall/ceiling. This would need to be done using 3-4 coats if you want to make a textured wall or ceiling smooth. We also skim coat many times when there is damage under wallpaper after we remove it from the wall. If the drywall has tears in it down to the brown paper, make sure you cut out any loose areas first and seal those areas with an oil base primer, Guardz from Zinnser or Roman Sealer so that the brown paper does not ripple or blister. Do not use a regular water base primer over the brown paper.
