Features of This Khatmah This Khatmah is distinguished by adhering to Maqam Bayat and its branches throughout the entire recitation while observing the rules of Tajweed, and rules of "stopping and starting". It reflects an attempt to engage with the verses and express their meanings melodically by using various subsidiary maqams, melodic phrases, and transitions between vocal layers. About Maqam Bayat Maqam Bayat is one of the authentic oriental maqams, renowned for its rich melodic phrases and flexibility in expressing a wide range of emotions and feelings. It blends sadness, tenderness, sorrow, and joy, making it one of the most widely used maqams in Quranic recitation and religious chanting. Egyptian reciters, in particular, are known for beginning their recitations with this maqam and returning to it at the end due to its calmness and smoothness on the vocal cords. About the Reciter The reciter, Dr. Mohamed Saeed Najeeb, holds a Master’s and Doctorate in Quranic Readings and Tajweed Sciences from the Islamic University of Madinah. He also earned a Bachelor's degree from the Faculty of Sharia at the same university. Dr. Najeeb holds Ijazah (certification) in both the minor and major ten readings and has served as a member of the Quran Complex in Sharjah, United Arab Emirates. Currently, he works as the Imam of Masjid Annur Islamic center, California, USA.
